Tina Thompson

Preschool Director

My name is Tina Thompson, and I live in Mattoon with my husband, our three children, and our sweet puggle, Jordie. Family is at the heart of everything I do, and I truly cherish the time we spend together. I love being outdoors—especially taking walks, soaking up the sunshine, and spending time by the pool. I enjoy every opportunity to relax and be outside.

I am honored to serve as the new Director of Immanuel Lutheran Preschool. I bring 28 years of experience in early childhood education, with time spent both in the classroom and in leadership roles as a director and assistant director. I have a deep passion for helping children learn, grow, and develop a strong foundation—both academically and spiritually. I look forward to partnering with families this year as we guide children closer to Christ while nurturing their love of learning. I am so excited for the year ahead and this new adventure!

What is our Mission Statement?

We believe that the Christian education and care of children is a cooperative effort that includes parents, children, teachers, and congregational members as partners with families. Immanuel Lutheran Church and its Early Childhood ministry are involved in caring for children and providing early education through activities and experiences that help develop skills necessary for school and for a Christ-centered life.

Common Questions

If your questions are not answered below, feel free to call.

  • What kind of curriculum does your school use?

Our Christian based curriculum is called "One in Christ" by Concordia Publishing House. This curriculum helps children learn the stories of the Bible along with applying it to their everyday life.

Additionally, this year we have added the Frog Street Pre-K curriculum. It provides a sequence of learning experiences that progressively builds children's knowledge and skills as they move through the developmental progressions in the following domains: Approaches to Learning; Social and Emotional Development; Literacy; and Perceptual, Motor, and Physical Development.

  • Do you accept financial assistance?

    Yes!

We do accept financial assistance for tuition. Feel free to reach out to us if you are interested in more information.

  • What kind of security do you offer?

Doors remain locked at all times with access for families via personalized 5-digit codes. Additionally, all entrances and halls are equipped with operational security cameras. If an unfamiliar face comes to pick up your little one, we require pre-authorization and proof of identification.
